SALON 2005 (93)| Minimalism as a principle
White snow, black ground, brown trees trunks – all these associations was reflected in the interior of this flat… The authors of the project meaningly chose such poor color solution – according to their point of view the interior in minimalistic style is most antropomorphous and of great vitality. In particular this interior is ready to add to its owner and satisfy all his demands.
We talked to one of the authors of the project – Boris Uborevich-Borovsky:
| SALON :
The first thing to be noticed here is a large number of glass surfaces. The partition between bedroom and dining-room for instance… Why you use this stylistic solution?
- The matter is that the flat is not too big. And we used this method to visually increase the space. Glass partitions between the rooms gives the feeling of additional space, light and air.
| SALON : The flat interior was made in a hard minimalistic style. But recently this style has been criticized for its coldness and lacking vitality. So why minimalism?
- I think one can criticize every style: baroque is too flowery, modern – too artistic… I believe that nowadays two main styles are classics (I mean the antique) and minimalism. Home interior is a part of your life, often it accompanies you several years. Too bright and too beautiful interior according to our experience starts tire and bother quite soon. So we tried to create maximum light space. We create interior that is not burdened with unnecessary geometry, color - not to bother after time passed. More, we meaningly decline various curved lines and bent spaces to hold the purity of form and openness of space.
| SALON : In color solution you also prefer minimalism?
—Почти нет. Мы «вынесли» всё. Оставили основу, каркас. Только то, чего здесь не могло не быть.
| SALON :
In color solution you also prefer minimalism?
- Yes. Color palette that we used in this apartment consists of three main tones: white (ceiling and walls), different gradations of brown and black panels. We meaningly chose neutral range not to tense and tire eyes… I think this interior is very comfortable.
Boris Uborevich-Borovsky:
“The apartment itself not too big that's why while working on it's interior we tied to visually increase it's space. That's how appeared transparent glass partitions. They provides a sort of optical illusion that visually increase space”
